Several years ago the Drill of the Day series came out & still lives on. Sadly, there was little community participation & some brought up that the drills were excessive.

New year, new thread!

Ground rules:

•show off your mojo: fitness, food, lifestyle, health, fashion...
•keep it positive
•respect that not every entry will be right for every skier or rider
•encourage / support posting & growth

Game on!

Maintaining an active lifestyle & busy work-life balance can be challenging, especially when spending time skiing is important. Here are 2 great reads on laying a foundation for your success in 2014. Functional training & an enhanced diet will help you navigate to & on the slopes better!

When I was submitting a plan to the school board for the ski program several years ago, I used the basic principles of good health in my plan.

The fundamentals of good health can be attained while skiing - Sunshine, exercise, fresh air, and water(must hydrate)  - Add the fact that rest is another fundamental and all the kids I took skiing slept well after a day of skiing.

That earlier post was a complete mis-fire, but since you asked, the answer is Julia Mancuso.

Looks like a sweet day out there!

I've been lifting in order to facilitate hacking my way down the mountain with a lack of skill at ever-increasing speeds as a 19-year old college student :)

Current routine looks like going to the gym 3x per week alternating between ABA and BAB weeks.

A: Deadlift 3x8 Pull-ups 3x8 Overhead Press 3x8 Tricep Pushdowns 10x1

B: Squat 3x8 Bench Press 3x8 Seated Rows 3x8 Curls 10x1 and then Abs

I've also been trying to improve my diet while eating enough food to put on some muscle, and it's not easy!

But from last spring to now, I've bulked up to 175 from 150 pounds and am hoping to end up around 185 in another few months.

Other goals include lifting a total of 1000 pounds from Deadlift, Squat, and Bench combined, at which point I plan on switching to a more skiing and biking specific workout routine.
