Quiver Questions - Robin Hood vs. Katniss Everdeen - Line Prophet 98 vs. Nordica Soul Rider - Advice please!

Hi All,

I am sure that my question is not really unique, but I'll try to ask anyhow.

I am an Intermediate/advanced level skier, who has been skiing for 20 years, and now wanting to up my game and shopping for a new ski.

I am 26 years old male, 177 lbs, 5’.10”

I am doing 50%groomers and 50%off-piste (resort backcountry – Vail back bowls/Teocalli- Peel at CB) but planning to do more off-piste. I love heading into the trees and doing bumps and moguls.

I am thinking between:

Line Prophet 98 179cm

Nordica Soul Rider 185cm

K2 Shreditor 102

And open to other suggestions……

I’ve skid the Mantra, Cham 87, Kink, and Sin7…. all great skis but not 100% in love with any of them. My last day in Vail a week ago the ski tech handed me the Soul Rider saying, “I hope you don’t have a girlfriend because you’re gonna fall in love with these” He was right. However, Vail was in between storms so the snow was choppy and frozen over in the bowls and patchy on the frontside, and I just wanted to get some feedback before pulling the trigger.

The SR struggled on the frozen powder. I’m used to a little more of a charger to blast through that stuff, and that’s where the allure of the P-98 comes in. Once I backed the speed off the SR, I enjoyed finessing around the mountain. The SR ripped on the frontside, quick edge to edge and the most playful ski I’ve ever tried. Would still like to test it out in some fresh pow though.

I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Holt

P.S. I am normally skiing at Vail (about 10 to 20 days per season)

You should really be thinking 186 on the P98. Line tends to overstate their length by a few inches.

Well if you liked the playfullness of the Soul Rider but want some more performance outside the park, the Line Prophet 98 could be your ticket to heaven.  A fun ski that likes to hunt.  And the  metal matrix helps keep it damp and stable when you get into it.  The Hell and Back would be the closest in the Nordica family.
