New Mexico - southern Colorado conditions

I am heading in the general direction of Albuquerque and southern Colorado in a few days and I have a few days free.  What are the ski conditions like right now?

Not great.  Last major snow was a week and a half ago and it looks like another week of dry and sunny at least.  Wolf Creek may get a dusting this weekend.

It has been a while for fresh snow at Wolf, but it still has a great base. Other Colorado's areas are seeing snow and seeing base figures climb to 50", Wolf's current base is 58", consolidated down from close to 80" at the end of the big storm cycle a few weeks back.

The entire mountain is very skiable, and you can still find untracked lines if you hike for them, and soft lines in Alberta. There is also some pretty good bump skiing going on right now.

No real snow in the forecast- storms have been getting pushed North after a really crazy October-mid-December.

Come to Wolf if you want to ski wall-to-wall in Colorado- the whole mountain is open and in play. But, if you are storm chasing, head elsewhere.

Purgatory is in pretty decent shape. Monarch is 100% open and has good coverage on runs, decent but not bottomless coverage in trees. Both Wolf and Monarch have much, much better of a base than what I experienced at Loveland and A-Bay over Christmas (which were not bad but more in line with average xmas conditions).

Spent the last two days at Taos. Conditions are fine, though not great --- basically, I found myself chasing the sun around the mountain to stay on soft snow. Almost everything is open, though, so it is easy to find good runs.

(It is frustrating that Chair 7 is down, though. Someone said that they broke the main shaft?!? :eek)
