Storm coming and I am not talking about the weather. :eek  There is a perfect storm of large number of skiers and riders that will hitting the slopes in the North East after the 01-02-2014 snow dump.  If you have never ever tried Plattekill this is a good time to check it out.

I'll be there tomorrow. Staying at the t bar tonight.

I'm at work, in a cubicle.

Wind speed and gusts too high to make it enjoyable.   And... it can interfere with lift operations.

It ended up being a good day. Plattekill got about 10", and there was a lot of good snow that remained all day long due to there being very few people there. That was my first time there and my first day on this season. Cool place. Laid back old school feel, and a super laid back policy. The staff and patrol seemed to be ok with people skiing anywhere within the boundaries regardless of status. I'm not sure if this is the norm, but I dug it.

I usually only ski the Catskills once or twice a season, but I would consider going back to plattekill in order to avoid the crowds. It was typical moderate catskill terrain, but good snow, good vibes, and lack of crowds can make for a fun day.

Just don't stay at the t bar saloon. It was inexpensive at only $72 for a double, but the mattresses were so destroyed that my back and neck got tweaked, and our room had a fly infestation problem. That's kinda scary considering it was 0F outside yet there were flys all over the place inside.
