Volkl All Stars Replacement - Code UVO?

Thread Starter

I'm looking to replace me All Stars, and am planning to demo the Code UVO and RTM 84 tomorrow. I'm looking really for a really good carving ski as I also have the Mantras as a soft-snow / crud ski, so I'm hoping the Code UVOs will be what I'm looking for. Anyone have much experience with them? Very few reviews of the Code, as everyone is pushing the RTM's.

Also, I'm on 161 All-Stars, and they're perfect. Should I be skiing the Code longer because it has tip & tail rockers? The store has it in a 168, but not a 161. I'm not sure that I should be going up that long. I'm 5'5", 158 lbs. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Yes, I recommend that you demo the Code and the RTM tomorrow and make up your own mind about both. If you have time and can stomach demoing something that's not a Volkl, try a Head Rally or Magnum.

RTM 84s are less of a hard-snow carver than the RTM 81, which is firmer and narrower--more like your beloved All-Stars.  In addition to Jim's excellent recommendations, you might also consider the Dynastar Course Pro (72 in the waist): a great hard-snow carver.
