No Notifications

Thread Starter

I used to receive email notifications when I receive a PM or when someone updates a thread to which I have subscribed or whatever. But I haven't received any such notifications in a very long time - maybe last summer or earlier. I have gone in and updated anything in my profile which I thought might help, and the notifications are not getting put into my email trash as far as I can see. So I am not sure what to do (other than logging in every day!). Are others having problems such as this, and/or is there anything which I can do differently?

Thank you!

Kitty

@kittygal, Double check your email is correct.  Your subscriptions are updated on your home page regardless of email preferences.  From what I can see, you do have your options correct to receive email notification of messages, @ notifications and thread updates.  Your email in in My Profile / Edit Account Details.  Look in the left column to edit or check your email preferences.

My E-Mail notifications quit a couple of weeks ago, too.  My E-Mail hasn't changed.

I log in most days anyway, so I didn't figure it was that big a deal...and I also thought it might be my stupid not-so-smart phone.

Now that I think about it, though, I also don't get the notifications on my actual 'puter anymore, either, so I guess it's not the phone after all.

@kittygal can you confirm your email address is correct? I just ran a test through our Email Deliverability tool and it is saying the email is being sent, but it is not being delivered to you. Could either mean your email provider is blocking it before it ever gets to you. In which case there is not a whole lot we can do because it is sending you the emails, you would have to call your email provider.

@Skierish Maybe check your Spam filter. Unlike @kittygal I am seeing that the emails were successfully delivered to your address. I see five of them in the last week being delivered successfully.

Thanks, Cirque - I did go into my profile, and everything seems correct. I also don't see anything in my email spam folder. (I had my teenager double-check me on all of this  :rolleyes .) Don't know. . . . But thanks for the reply. Rain by you too? Starting to clear up here. Though I won't know right off if you reply until I log in later. . . .

Thanks for making me feel not-so-lonely, Skierish!

@kittygal Sorry my mistake, I misread the report. It was an issue on our end, I should have just fixed it.

If you have the option to whitelist Epicski.com on your email, that might solve this.  It's beginning to sound like a spam filter run amok.

Oh, MY - I just got several email notifications about tylrwnzl's mentioning me in a post! How did that happen? First time in months. My son and I swear that we didn't change anything on my profile, and nothing in my email either, so can't figure that out.

But very happy!!! Thank you to whoever/whatever helped!!! Hopefully it will continue!

Okay, I'm going to go off and do something productive for awhile, but I am hoping that when I come back to the computer, I will have gotten notifications from. . . some other subscriber or post, so I know that it wasn't just a fluke. But at least we know it does work, somehow.

It was on our end.

@Cirquerider Sengrid (which handles our email notifications) has a system in place that it will  "Drop" emails when it believes sending them would harm our reputation. I am not entirely sure what would be the qualification for that, but I am guessing it is if the user has marked our email as SPAM instead of deleting it (perhaps by accident). If you go into the Email Deliverability report of the Admin panel you will see "Dropped" as the email status and at the top there is a button that says "Delete" which will reset it. It's a new one for me, but I got it sorted out with a little digging.

Hopefully other members will let us know if they have had notifications discontinued.  I think Tyler found our solution.

More notifications in my email inbox!

Thank you Tyler and all!! So excited to be back in-the-loop! I should have emailed about this months ago!

Nope, nothing in Spam filter.

I got the one that you quoted me, but nothing about subscribed thread being updated.

I checked my Trash also, and the 5 you noted are all "Quote" notifications, but I'm not getting Thread Update notifications apparently.

@Skierish your profile has your default set to "Site Only (no email)" for threads that you post in. If you want to receive updates by default you can change that in your profile, or if you want to do that by post there is a box just below the editor for you to select when you receive emails.

Weird.  I didn't change it...I had to search to find it just now.

Thanks, though!
