We Arrived

Hi Folks,

After 1 month of frenzied packing, 8 days, 2400 miles in 1 car and a moving truck with 2 dogs,, through 3 whiteouts we arrived in  Coeur d'Alene on 12/3. Getting minimally moved in in our wiped out state took a while so we didn't ski Silver Mtn until 12/25. That was actually a great Christmas gift since we had not skied in 2 1/2 years and I had never skied on my hip replacement. The gift was the skiing and that the hip was no problem. It will take more ski days to get our legs under us. Then we hope to take Pete's offer to tour Silver Mtn. Since we have season passes there our plan this season is to learn that mountain really well and probably try Schweitzer, Mt. Spokane and Lookout at least once. We made it simple the 1st day and skied only on Kellog Peak. That created more questions than it answered. First, can you ever ski to the bottom???? We'll ask other questions later. Thanks for your help and support.

Hi Folks,

For those interested I posted in the General Skiing Discussion area with the above title thinking I was on the Inland Northwest site. I'll add to what I said there that even though my research indicated that skiing here was as good as, if not better than, Colorado it was very rewarding to find out that the snow and the terrain is comparable.

P.S. If there is a way to move a post from one place one place on EpicSki to another place on the site would someone please let me know.

All you need to do is flag your post and we can move it.  Not sure if we can move it from General skiing to a Group, but we'll see about that.

Yes, it's possible..:)

I had two flags to move this post to the Inland Northwest group forum.   Hopefully this is what Pookaspirit had in mind, as it was just fine in General Skiing or even in a Resorts forum area.

Hey, I hear the inland northwest has snow!  That's more than can be said for most coastal west areas and California.

Pookaspririt, you might want to let @GarryZ  know you're around.  He is an instructor at Schweitzer and would probably be glad to show you around.

THANKS CIRQUERIDER. I'LL take you up on that. I've been following snow patterns ever since the idea of moving to the inland NW came ro us and the pattern has been decent. The snow at Silver on Christmas was very good. Hope you get some soon!

Welcome to Idaho.   Resting a R knee right now but be ready to go in a few days and hoping we get more snow.  And the answer is Yes you can ski all the way back down the whole hill with a whole lot more snow than we have now.  I will send you a PM with my phone number and E address and we will get together.

Welcome to the area, pookaspirit.

I don't think we are going to be skiing to town this year at Silver from the looks so far. There's no official way down, just a couple local routes.

Snow tomorrow and Friday should freshen things up a bit, but we still need a 12"-16" storm to add some base!

BTW I thought GarryZ was at Mt Spokane, not Schweitzer? skierish skis Schweitzer the past few seasons.

Mike, you're right.  Garry is at Mt Spokane according to his profile.  I guess my memory is making stuff up, but I think he was a Schweitzer some years ago.
