Hi,

My name is Fernando I am from Argentina. I am going to Redwood for working during January and I want to do to ski or ski touring on weekends. I don't have a car and I don't know how to drive, but I love mountains.

I am looking how to move to mountains on weekends and go to ski with people if it is possible. I spent 5 months in Innsbruck (Austria), I learned how to ski touring. I am not a great skier and I have a lot to improve. But I can move in the mountain. Also I am interested in join a ski lesson group.

Do you know were I can found a group for enjoy ski?

thanks,

I know of a few people who take a bus from the Bay Area to Tahoe/Truckee area.

@Hairfarmer may have some good information for you.  I think he takes a bus from time to time.

I use either Amtrak  ( http://www.amtrak.com/home ) or Zimride ( http://www.zimride.com/search?pageID=1 ) from the SF Bay Area.

Amtrak runs 1 direct Train and 3 train/bus combos to downtown Truckee from multiple bay area locations. Emeryville being the closest to SF and Richmond Amtrak is at the end of the Richmond BART line for easy connecting from BART. Zimride is a ride share site that is pretty good as far as the folks that use it being reliable, It has been hit or miss when I want to travel but when there is someone traveling when I am it is generally cheaper than the train or bus. Both services are easy to use and have served me well. Oh and there is also a cafe car on the Train from the Bay area as well that has both food and beverages :beercheer: for all ages

Happy Trails HF
