Any premonitions for tomorrow, you on-the-spot people?  It's looking ugly here, but we're 50' above sea level.

go north.  No, keep going north.  Mont Ste. Anne reporting 10-12"  Le Massif reporting 16"  (not cm).

Jay Peak is reporting snow this afternoon, but that is after 2 days of rain.

Yeah.

I was at Crotched yesterday. It was surprisingly good. The snowpack had a chance to drain before it refroze so the frozen granular was skiable. They were blowing the fan guns to resurface every trail leaving silky smooth snow. The pond had refilled half way giving them water to work with. The snow in the woods remains and has solidified into a good base. My expectations were exceeded on all fronts.

I've been watching them online (webcam) and the snow guns have been cranking!  They're 75% open and still making snow and are open 1- 5 today.  It's killing me I can't get up there until Saturday :mad

Outside of the fact I work there, I'm always amazed how good and consistent the grooming is at Crotched.  Love that place.

Happy Holidays!

Excellent grooming, you're right.  Better each year.  Ten years ago maybe, I remember skiing below the lifts into shin-deep crust, taking a header -- no more of that!  We may have to head over in the next couple days.  We already do seven days at Crotched every season for my son's school program, but it may be in the best shape locally, and I'm dying to try out the new boots (plug here for GMOL, Bill Haight, now at Bromley).

Bill's the best!  Going back up there Friday to get my daughter's boots shimmed.  One of the other instructors is going up with us to get her boots done too.  I don't care for the drive but I love the service.

I know -- he wants to grind mine, but, he says, "I want to see you skiing first.  Make an appointment, come back, and I'll ski with you.  Then we'll grind them."
