Does any resort in Europe have good snow yet?

I was planning a trip for the week of Jan. 4 but the snow does not look promising at the moment. Any places with a good base yet?

Looking fairly typical at the moment. Not as good as last year but last year was a big year. It's not uncommon for Christmas/ New Year to be fairly low on snow. The forecast seems to be indicating lower temperatures and some decent falls for later next week but all this can of course chage. There are some falls due the next couple of days as well.

The last forecast I saw for the Espace Killy showed snow on the way in the next couple of days, and their webcams show a decent base (a bit of exposure on south-facing slopes).

We don't and we're a pretty decent proxy for St Moritz, Bormio or Davos. Snow coming today/tomorrow and through the Christmas period, though. We did get spoiled last year. Christmas/New Years was the best part of the season; that's not normal.

Have skied two days in Zermatt and two days in Saas Fee so far.  Snow is good in Zermatt but the run down to the village was still closed when I was there 3 weekends ago.  You can already ski all the way to the village in Saas Fee, but due to the location of the resort (and hence the lack of sun early season), pistes lower down are quite icy, but then, that's more of an issue of the lack of sun rather than the lack of snow. ;)

I guess real snow you will only find on glaciers, as mentioned in Saas Fee oder you go on one of the glaciers in Tyrol.

Last weekend I was in Davos/Klosers and will go there again for this weekend, there is enough snow but not great snow.

Keep your eye on the Dolomites in Italy. They ski well with much less snow depths than other resorts due to the rock free slopes, careful snow management and some carefully situated snow making kit.

Arraba is my preferred choice of resort although there is little nightlife outside the odd bar.

I stay in the Hotel Malita which is close to the lifts 200m and has a wellness area, equipped with massage pool, sauna and turkish bath and Kneipp which soothes my aching bones after a hard days skiing.

Currently they have good piste skiing.

Looks like some French resorts get 50cm coming, while St. Moritz is getting 80cm

Chamonix has a 50 inch base with over a foot of snow predicted over the next few days.  Should be nice.

FYI the southern Alps got hammered during the last two days. Over a meter of fresh higher up so conditions are getting prime right now.

Madesimo seem snowed in. I guess we won't hear from Prickly in a while...
