Anyone have the Dakine Edge tool?

I'm talking about this:

Would it be a good cheap way to keep your edges sharp yourself?

I do. Bought it at REI a couple of years back. It only comes with file insert it will get your edges sharp. I just bought the SKI visions edge sharp and like that much better. If you get the Dakine get a gummi stone or polishing stone that can fit the tool to get the burrs out.

Yes, I've owned one like that before.  They work fine.  Just buy a diamond stone that will fit in it, medium course (blue), and use that instead of the file after you've set the edges the first time with the file.   If you're not especially dedicated to learning the techniques and information related to edge tuning, you can bring your skis into a shop once a season for a professional tune, then just use this guide with a diamond stone to maintain them through the season yourself.

Also note- diamond stones should be used wet.  Regular files = use dry.  Diamond stones = use wet.
