New DH course layout in Beaver Creek

Does any one know why organizers altered the layout of the men's Birds of Prey downhill at Beaver Creek? I'm disappointed. I thought the old course made the race one of the more exciting on the tour. Some of the races have commented that it was slow. Aksel the winner in First Tracks: “I have to admit, I like the old course more,” Svindal said of Friday’s hybrid track comprised of elements from the Raptor, the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships women’s speed track,  and Birds of Prey courses. “This course is great, but the old Birds of Prey was world class. But in the end it’s all about the win, so I can’t say that I’m too disappointed with the change.”

Was it to make room for the woman's course?  Will this be the route run at the World Championships? Why would they use an easier layout for the competition to find the best in the world?

As I understand it there is no way to prep 2 separate WC class DH courses so they chose to do it the way they did.

The women's course had preference because they hadn't raced on it before and needed to prior to the World Champs next season. It's too early in the year to properly prep two world cup courses, so there was no way to run the full Birds of Prey course. Cold temps in CO in the fall allowed them to make enough snow to make the BOPtor hybrid possible; running the men down Raptor (and none of BoP) was always a possibility. Not to worry, the hybrid course is (hopefully) a one-time thing.

Thanks Snowfan and bruins14sammy. Your replies cleared things up for me.
