I was out, but not skiing as well as this guy. First day is blessedly over.

Our conditions are primo, like mid January.

Schweitzer had a foot of fresh, but wet, snow last weekend.

It got cut up and chewed up, and it's now frozen solid and seriously wind-scoured.

Off-piste conditions are "challenging," there's still quite a bit of brush poking through, and it's been groomers only for this weekend.

Not too many rocks on what's open, tho...so, there's that.

Lookout reports 3 in. last night.  thinking Lookout Thurs if it keep spitting snow after 2 days closed might be enouogh to heal the cold scars a little.  Silver Fri ? they will have been closed 4 days, now we juist need them to post a snow total thursday.

thinking Whitefish maybe early next week if we don't get much over here.  Anyone interested in going for say 2 days skiing and 1 night ?

Lookout got another 3-4 inches so looks maybe good for Thursday.  Won't drive to Whitefish for 9 hours if good here.  A few more inches Tue and Wed and might be a great blower day for this early in the year.  Maybe a freeway run or two down 3 ?  Anyone going thur I will be in a medium blue jacket, black helmet.  Stop me and say hi.

Not trying to entice you for next week, since I'm not ready for prime time, but we got another seven inches in the last day of what I kept mentally labeling The Right Fluff. Lacy fluff all over. So light the fact that I was on my skinny skis (78s) didn't interfere one bit. Just a blast.

So, we're laying down some good snow for the season here.

Whitefish sounds 100 times better than Schweitzer.  Got out today for about 3 hours.

We've had about 2" since the windstorm Friday.  So, it's still hard windscour, a thin layer of powder over frozen crud in most places, and deep pockets of fluffiness here and there.

I stayed off-piste, but it was tricky in spots and a bit of a rough ride most places.

Does look good I'd be on my way this AM if it wasn't a 9 hr drive rd trip.  Waiting to see what happens locally, if the snow doesn't come may be on my way.
