THat was awesome! I came inside just in time to see the final 5 or 6 runs... Hirscher and Miller certainly kept it together, thought they were both going DNF in the second run. Then Ligety just  cruises right through there like a knife through butter, but still ...

I guess this also means we will be seeing a lot of Morgan Beck jumping up in down in Russia, too... :rolleyes

In recent years it didn't seem he could finish a GS race, let alone podium.   Ligety is skiing top-5 in the SG, Miller is skiing fast in the GS, and anything could happen in Sochi.  If we avoid NBC, we might even see it happen live.  Note how they swapped out the white top skis they raced on, and are holding the black ones on the podium.

Totally enjoyed seeing Bode fly today.  Fantastic.

What is really interesting is Bode's skis.  He is on the older white tops in the race yet is holding the black skis (as is Ligety) on the podium. Nothing like advertising the new models for HEAD.

Ligety was too

Head 2013-4 topsheets will be all white on the speed skis, and GS…..the black/yellow will be the look just for the SL skis. You saw Ligety on those in the Levi SL.

Absolutely right...
What makes it even more impressive is that GS is the hardest and Bode is 36 yo.

What were they saying about his new trainer, ie his wife's trainer, and he feels like he is in better shape than ever, can finish the races strong? I mean ... uh ...

They never hold up the skis on the podium that they actually race on, those are consumer models used for advertising.

Um, I know that. I was just responding to whoever said he was on white skis ... both of them were on white skis. That's all. They finish, pop off one ski, hold it up until someone gives 'em their display pair.

I'm gonna try that after my next race and see if I can score some new skis. :)

In an interview he claimed he was pain free for the first time in ten years, and is skiing all the events well even if the the results don't show it yet.  It seems the legend of Bode will continue.

and that's a bad thing???  :D

Greta result and really food to see him back on the podium.  Still one of the most exciting skiers to watch.  Ted is so beautifully smooth but Bode is just...fun!
