Massanutten is holding special events Jan. 11-12.  In addition to having a few demo tent by a local ski shop, there will be a couple special 2-hour clinics.

Freestyle of Charlottesville will have a free demo tent set up Sat-Sun, Jan. 11-12 from 9:00-3:00. Last season there was a good selection of all-mountain skis from Rossi, K2, Nordica, and a few other brands. Most were skis that would be good out west or in the northeast as well as in the Mid-Atlantic.

The Massanutten ski school is offering special 2-hour clinics on Sun, Jan. 12. A great deal at $30.  Instructors will be experienced Level 2 or Level 3.  Most likely the instructor for the Women's clinic will be a woman.

* Women's Clinic, ages 12 and up, 9:30-11:30
* Intermediate Clinic, ages 12 and up, 1:00-3:00

For those over 50, the regular Silver Clinic is on Sundays, 1:00-3:00, $30.  A good deal for any ability level since the usual instructor is an older Level 3 instructor.  Walter trains Mnut instructors.

For a detailed introduction to Massanutten, check out the unofficial guide on EpicSki.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have questions.  For those who don't know me . . . I don't work at Mnut.  I am an older mother and timeshare owner who was lucky to discover the place a year before my daughter was old enough for ski school.  She loved Slopesliders ski school and the waterpark.  Became a season pass holder in 2009 after checking other ski areas within 4 hours driving distance of Raleigh.  I intend to keep skiing at Mnut for years to come.

Everything is open at Massanutten.  Conditions were sweet this morning.  Still good in the afternoon after the temp reach mid-30's.

Rain predicted fro Sat, but Sun should be a decent day. There is plenty of base after the last few weeks of cold snowmaking weather, so the warmer temps won’t be a problem. Here is the list of skis that Freestyle plans to bring to the Massanutten Demo Days Jan. 11-12.

Blizzard Bonafide & Brahma
Volkl RTM 81, RTM 84, Kendo
Rossignol Experience 83, Experience 88, Soul 7
Head Rev 80 Pro, Rev 85 Pro, Supershape Magnum
Scott Reverse, Crusade, The Ski
K2 Rictor 90 XTI, Amp 80 XTI
Blizzard Black Pearl
Nordica Wild Belle
Volkl Yumi, Charisma
Scott Luna
Rossignol Temptation 82, Temptation 88
K2 Superific, Superglide

The special Intermediate Clinic on Jan. 12 is at 1:00-3:00 for $30 with a Level 2 or 3 instructor. The Women’s Clinic in the morning, 9:30-11:30, may have more than one group based on ability. Also $30 for two hours.

Fun time for the weekend in spite of some rain midday Saturday.  Actually nice snow Saturday morning and after the rain stopped around 3pm.  Sunday was sunny, warm enough to soften everything by mid-morning, and not that crowded even though there was racing in the morning.  MakAttack had plenty of snow for testing out skis.

Freestyle will have more like 40 pairs of skis at the Wintergreen demos.  They are limited by weight when they pack the van for Massanutten demo days.  I had more than enough to check out in shorter lengths (150-162).  My tall friend checked out unisex or men's versions so she was happy as well.  For her, 166 is on the short side and that was the longest length for women's skis.
