Sled Skiing Boot Solution?

Hey everyone, I am wondering what other sled-skiers are using on their feet to ride their sleds and then shred the POW!!  Do you put something on your typical alpine boots?  Or do you use AT boots with a grippy bottom/rubber bottom?  Or make a change once you are out there?

Sleds? Like a snowmobile?

I just wear my regular alpine boots. Some guys wear AT.
I've never seen anyone plane their boots and add vibram soles, as alluded to by Powder Mag years ago. Just use AT if you want to do that.

Yeah, I have a set of Garmont Shoguns (AT boots) but I just find them to have to much flex for my liking.  The alpine boots are stiffer and more capable for driving the big boys through the POW.

Itd be nice to find a set of rubber slip-ons or something you could slide over the bottom of the boots.  The running boards destroy boots pretty quickly and you still slide around a bit.

Go with the Yak Trax version for something that actually requires some additional utility beyond walking across a parking lot.

Wow! That's fantastic! Thanks for the recommendation. I'll see if I can find a set. Have you guys used these products?

I've used Cat Trax religiously at one time to walk to the lifts. They tend to stretch out over time and fall off, then you can twist them for a while to shorten them until that doesn't work anymore. Now I don't need them where I'm currently skiing, but I did use my old ones to keep me from killing myself on a slippery wax room floor while tuning in new boots.

I have both.  Used cat trax for years but now upgraded to the yak version.  You do have to be sure that you have them completely snapped over your lugs.  I almost lost one awhile back noticing I 'threw a shoe" but was able to back track a couple hundred feet and find it.

Maybe they should have a strap over the top of the boot to help secure them, or so it looks like?
