WB 6-9 December

Well, the best word to describe WB right now is cold. No, better yet COLD!

So first, this is the initial rig I'll start out with this year. MX88, MX108 and Cochise. No doubt it'll change soon, but whatever. Loving having the Griffon demos - take them off then put three sets of skis in the bag to store at the hotel - win-win!

There hasn't been a huge amount of natural snowfall, but WB can make it with the best, so conditions are decent, sometime a little hard, but particularly down low, pretty soft.

7th Heaven hasn't opened yet, but there's a decent cover that looks to be ready pretty soon.

Today is the opening of the newly revised Crystal chair, so I'll wait for a little sunshine then hit it up later this morning.

That is a great way to deal with 3 pair of skis with storage and travel.

So today's big event was the grand opening of the Crystal Ridge chair, a new high speed quad, replacing the old, slow and short double.

This chair is a welcome addition as you now don't have to lap the Glacier chair, or come over from 7th Heaven to enjoiy some of the fine cruisers over on this part of Blackcob.

Another opening for the season today was the Peak chair

And while you can't go down to Creekside yet. this is step #1 opening the 5280 vertical of goodness.

Weather today again was C.O.L.D, but visibility was very, very fine

The new Crystal Chair will improve Blackcomb immensely, as there's some fine cruisy and a few excellent steep tree runs in the Crystal Zone. It can be a good place in a storm too.

Effect of 6 pack on Harmony will be interesting. It should keep the line shorter, as long as it doesn't act as a magnet for even more people.

It looks a bit rocky there still. I was there last few Novembers, and we were spoiled by fantastic early snow falls. It'll come ... keep warm!!

It's really boney out there, this is the worst early season since 2005ish. November had less than half of average snowfall, and so far in 9 days in December there's been maybe 20-25cm with reverse winds hammering it all. Need at least 100-200cm of heavy snowfall to fix things. Holiday crowds are going to be pissed if that doesn't happen.

Should start to see a shift in the cold, dry weather later in the week.

Minor flurries today, but the forecast is looking better.

For sure they need it as it's not the surface normally expected, Some light flurries today, but it's pretty scratchy.
