Junior ski advice, please!

Thread Starter

I'm hoping to get some opinions on skis for my 14 year old son.  We ski Vt, NH and Maine, so East coast.  He is an advanced skier who likes to ski fast and aggressive on the groomers, but if there is good snow, he'll stay on the mogul runs or in the tress all day.  He visits the parks some, but really just prefers to ski.

So I'm looking for an all mountain ski that will hold a good edge when pressed and will be reliable on the hard pack, but also playful enough and with some float for the trees and moguls.

Not sure between the k2 Juvy or Bad Seed or the Volkl Gotama.  The Volkls make me nervous since they are a full, true rocker, so I'm leery how they will perform on groomers holding the edge with confidence on big turns and stable enough.  The Bad Seeds seems a bit wide underfoot for east coast skiing and the Juvy seem a bit narrow. Any other recommendations welcomed, too.

Any advice I would greatly appreciate!  Looking for a Christmas present.. His last skis were Volkl bridge  (hand me down from his older sister) and they seemed a bit too soft.  He's currently 90 lbs. and about 5'1".

Thanks very much!

Inge

Consider a jr race ski, gs for speed, sl for turns, possibly cheater ski but it may be a little on the stiff side unless he's very agressive.
