Timberline, WV is the venue for the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Gathering Feb. 21- 23, 2014. The vote was T-line 18 to Blue Knob 16. I hope to see you all at Timberline! Read all about Timberline in JohnL's great Timberline Four Seasons Resort WV, Unofficial Guide. Also check out John's  Canaan Valley Unofficial Guide. Both resorts are on the same ridge just a few miles apart and smack between them is a unique touring center, White Grass , which boasts a taller vertical than either alpine resort. Bring your tele or AT gear.

Chance of Snow and I are in to share a full or twin bed Friday and Saturday wherever we end up... assuming the costs are somewhat in line with what they've been historically.

I am still not totally sure If i can attend or not. Still looking for that ever elusive job. If I am able I would be up for a room share, even if it meant a sleeping bag on the floor.

I will likely attend this year.

I am not on the injured list

I am in the best shape that I have been in for a long time

sounds fun.

What is the ballpark price for lodging this year?

Yeah, who's handling the lodging for this GTG?  Looks like my wife and I will be up for this; we had to cancel the Diva week trip due to lack of funds, so this will help soften that disappointment.

Well of course I had to go take a look on the T-Line website...some nice options there, certainly seems more choices than there was at Blue Knob. Hmmm....the Winterhaven 88 house sure looks nice  :-)

Lodging is really up to you. A good place to look is here: Timberline Four Seasons Realty. A quick look still shows a lot of slopeside and walk to houses and condos available for our date. Best bet is to form a core group. For returners, contact those you shared with last season then round out your beds by posting for roomies. Newbies or couchsurfers, post in the thread for roomies or hook up with a group looking to fill beds. If you really want a private room then I suggest you take the lead and find a suitable spot then shop here for roomies. I've started the Lodging and Roomies thread to get the snowball rolling.

I guess everyone has their plans made for this GTG? The thread seems pretty dead....

JamesJ has booked the same house we shared two years ago.  I believe it immediately filled up with the exact same occupants that rented the same house two years ago.  Shoot him a PM and ask him if there might be room for two more.

Looks like the Lodging and Roomies thread is also pretty dead.  Perhaps as folks settle in after MLK Day looking closer at February things will pick up and more options will surface.  With two resorts there very close I'd think that there would be decent options available.

JohnL and jimmy are the local yokels that would have the best suggestions I believe.

JohnL has given quite a bit of info, and I recently purchased the snow tires JameJ had advertised here so he's given me the scoop on the house he's got.  I'm in touch with MarzNC and DSloan, so possibly we'll get something going on a house.

Are your plans set?

Old Boot and Lady S expressed interest in this event a while back.  Unfortunately we did not have room for them in the house I rented.  They could be candidates for space in another house.  There are lots of other folks who could come out of the woodwork.  Timberline is off to a little bit of a slow start this season and that might be tamping things down too, but they should be in very good shape by late Feb.

Yes, I am booked with JJ.  I also recall marznc mentioning interest.  She may have some timeshare connections she may be able to leverage to get a good deal on a second location in the area.  Start an email thread with everyone mentioned above, Old Boot, Lady_Salina, MarzNC, DSloan for starters.  Telerod15 and songfta may also be interested.  TR15 has been at every one of these that I have, songfta's been to one or two.  Both of those are usually late to commit though.

Don't forget to reach out to Pierre. This will be his 1st T-line gathering but he has made Blue Knob and Seven Springs some years back. It would be great to see him back.

Old Boot and lady_Salina have confirmed they are coming.  I suspect it won't be difficult at all to round up a couple more for a second Timberline base of operations..  Would be REALLY great if a second location on the SAME STREET or a block over could be secured within a quick walk of L' Hermitage!

I've been in touch with marznc and dsloan.  We recently heard about the Ski Diva GTG the following week, so we're trying to decide between the two.  I'm leaning towards T-line, for a variety of reasons.  But this weather has me concerned about the conditions.

I'll check out the location of the house JJ has, and see what's available nearby.  At least get some ducks in line.  :-)

Just took a look at the location of L'Hermitage...in an area where the houses state 4WD recommended...so it may depend on what people feel they can handle in the event we luck out with a good dump of snow.

I see Old Boot and LadyS already have plans made.  I'll put further posts about this in the lodging and roomies thread.

Old Boot can be talked into staying slopeside. Check out Northwoods condos. Walk to slope, no 4wd.

Any special events going down at T-Line this particular weekend?  Rather than a full retro day I'm going to propose something fun.  Weather permitting I believe I will try to rock a fart bag on Saturday and challenge everyone else that has one buried somewhere to bust out the onesie and sport it proudly!  I think it would be great for a whole gang of us to buzz around the joint in one piece suits.  Of course, if it is 40 degrees + this would be a terrible idea though.

Thoughts?

The one and only one I ever had was sold off years ago.  Wore it twice, didn't really like it.

If it manages to be near the 50° mark,  how about shorts and hawaiian shirts?  That I can do...   LOL

Timberline already has their "Snowy Luau" every March.

Perhaps someone can bring a spare for you hahahaha..

There are actually only a slim few that I'd have the gall to wear.  Mine isn't very wild at all....

Paging @jimmy Help me out on the details. I thought that Yoakum up to the intersection of Slopeside was pretty flat. Beyond that, heading up to Brookside is pretty durn steep. That beyond section could be dicey even in a 4wd.

Good Morning :D. Anybody who is concerned about conditions at Timberline can start worrying about something else. Amos and crew moved snow cannons onto Thunderstruck yesterday, snowmaking on TheTwister is just about done, the Glades that get blow-in man made are skiing nicely. They will be 100% open by this weekend. I don't remember the road to L'Hermitage being that "steep" but a house below it on the Northface would be a better choice than above it if two wheel drive is a concern. @DSloan has my numbahs if you need something checked out better. I am in the area from time to time ;) .

The L'Hermatage house isn't that far up the hill.  The road gets steeper right at the point where the driveway meets the access road.  There was a pretty decent dump the night I arrived last time.  We did see someone in a minivan slide off and get stuck trying to get to a place farther up the hill.  Those folks were able to get it out with a few strong helpers and on the third or fourth try the minivan did make the climb to the destination they were shooting for.  So, for our location and lower 4wd isn't necessary.  For locations farther up I would agree it may be needed if we get lucky.
