Reno Eats late 2013?

Thread Starter

Looks like I might *have to* head up to Mt Rose in order to get a few turns in before Xmas.  Most likely will up there w/ the family so simple, kid friendly, and value is good.  Will probably stay at a grand casino.  Found the earlier reference to eats in the Reno area:

   reno-boomtown-all-you-can-eat-lobster

and Asian Noodles stood out.  (Can we say, "Tired of buffets?" ;-)

Did a quick search via yelp and found:

  101 Taiwanese Cuisine, and

  Taiwan Restaurant

would be curious if they're worth the trip off the beaten path (mt rose hwy& 395/580).  Yes, maybe I hear a green onion pancacke wrapped beef calling me....

But, since this thread is a few years old, I was wondering if the locals would be willing to share their updated preferences...

I think my tastes are similar to @veteran, "We'll eat Asian (including jelly fish), Italian, Lebanese, Greek, fresh road kill, anything."

TIA

Chinese and all you can eat sushi, Cafe 168 on Virginia by Plumb, best of both in one spot

Pizza- True New York in Sparks, best east coast pizza for 500 miles

Mexican- Tacos El Rey on McCarren in the NW, just above 80

Pho-Pho which is by the Target & Home Depot on So. Virginia

These are pretty much the only restaurants we go to.

The roadkill hasn't changed much.

Fyi: Mark Estee, chef-owner of Campo in Reno, Burger Me! in Truckee and Reno, and formerly of Moody’s, recently opened chez louie, a French-inspired eatery in the Nevada Museum of Art. The grand opening of the restaurant on Nov. 2 was part of the museum’s feature exhibition “Toulouse-Lautrec & La Vie Moderne: Paris 1880-1919,” on view through Jan. 19, 2014. Estee’s newest venture will highlight seasonal ingredients, and will be open for brunch and lunch. Info: chez louie, 160 W. Liberty St., Reno, (775) 284-2921, chez-louie.com ~ Kara Fox/Moonshine Ink
