Cannon Mountain Opening weekend 11/29-12/1

The past few years have been rough for Cannon on opening weekend.  They've battled the weather, they've struggled with snowmaking, they've had to delay openings.  When the weather turned to 50 degrees and rain right before Thanksgiving it seemed like the bad streak might continue.  But good management decisions and much needed snowmaking upgrades prevailed.  Cannon opened the 13-14 season with one of their best starts in years.

The snow making upgrades meant that the could spread things out a little bit.  So instead of opening with the typical WROD under the Peabody, they spread it out across the Zoomer, Eagle Cliff, and even the Brookside chairs. That left more than 4 unique ways down the hill.  Friday and Saturday were cold (10-15) while Sunday was a little warmer (~25).  Conditions were typical man made hardpack, but it was edgeable and fun.

It's great to see the mountain open and everyone in such high spirits.  Got to say though, can't wait for some variety and vertical after 3 days in a row of this.....

Nice - I hope to make it to Cannon this year in good conditions. It looks like a fun mountain.

What app did you use to track your vertical?

Oh it's fun alright!  (But then I'm biased).

I've been using Navionics Ski to track runs this season.  Works well.  That's just one of the outputs, it also generates map files etc.
