Alignment - knee tracks out when I flex

Hi,

I skied for the first time this season on Saturday and I was immediately aware of the difference between my left turns which are strong (on my right leg) and my left turns which are not so stable.

I think I am not centered over my left foot and that my foot is not supporting me even though I have custom foot beds. It feels sloppy.

As an experiment I stood on a tiled floor and took note of my knee position then I flexed forward (in bare feet). My knees track outward by about an inch, the left looks worse than the right but both did it.

Does this test actual prove anything and if so what can I do to improve it?

I am in a Fischer vacuum boot which fit really well. They have the soma thing which may make this knee tracking out worse!

Thanks in advance

test only proves that you are capable of doing silly things for no apparent reason.

without being able to assess you or your pieces like boot, bootboard, footbed, etc, it is not possible to offer specific advice with pinpoint accuracy.

post video of yourself skiing varied terrain, varied turn shapes and transitions, from the front and from behind. from there we can at least see if what your feeling shows in your skiing. that may give us some clue as to what is going on with your set-up or your technique and tactics.

also where are you located, as we may be able to get you together with a fitter that can assess feet, ankles, knees, ski boots, and your skiing.

Mammoth is my nearest hill. The guys at Footloose have helped in the past with minor adjustments.

I agree a video of me skiing would be helpful but that will take a while to pull together.
