You see, this is why you should grab some ski days in the WROD season, so you can kill it for the powder days. ;)

Hey, I think I did just fine on my WROD-free diet.   :D

I skied 9-3 today, bumps or powder every run, on a high speed lift, at Mary Jane, and didn't take a break until 1:30 when my fingers, toes, water and cliff bar were all frozen.  Brrrrr, it was cold.

Now, I might not be able to walk tomorrow (let alone ski), but you know what they say...

^^^Sounds like a good day to me!

So I got the scoop from a patroller yesterday about the crappy early season WP conditions.  He said they couldn't make as much snow this year because the work to burry the Denver Water pipe impacted snowmaking.  This led them to open MJ with less snow than usual since MJ had better snow even without any snowmaking.

MJ always has way more snow than WP.  Long, long ago they used to report snow conditions at WP and MJ separately. It was remarkable how much more snow MJ always got.  It was usually a couple inches more from each storm, but sometimes it was double in the right storm.  7 new at WP and 14 new at MJ would happen a few times a year.

The snow at MJ yesterday was amazing.  I took a bunch of pictures yesterday (with @Tony Crocker in mind :)). I'll post them later today.

They are opening Vasquez today!  I believe all the runs below will be open for the first time of the year.

Slight problem... it's currently -15!!!!   Plenty of freshies today for the hearty.  Glad I got mine yesterday when it was 20 degrees warmer... yikes it's gonna be cold today.

Pay no attention to tball.  Conditions at WP are, and always will be, lousy.  Go to Breck.

Wow, I forgot all about that!

Here's my post with more pictures from Wed's powder day at the Jane:

Looks like tomorrow (Sunday) is the day:

Quote:
Sunday morning will be the best powder day across the state for at least the next 10 days....  Accumulations will be about 4-7 inches for the northern mountains, about 6-10+ inches for the central mountains, 8-12+ inches for the southern mountains.

PSA: I'd be heading back to the Jane for sure tomorrow if I could.  To review: pow day Wed, opened C lift side.  Thurs opened Vasquez.   Thurs, Fri, Sat, extremely cold make light skier traffic and good snow preservation, so it should still be soft today.   Add 4-7 on top and tomorrow should be a fantastic conditions.  Cold, xmas shopping and Broncos will keep folks home.

Tomorrow is setting up to be one of the better weekend powder days of the year.

Another weekend pow day for WP/MJ!  4 inches new today and Parsenn Bowl opened yesterday.  Everywhere else in CO had 0 or 1 inch except the Boat had 2 this morning.  Becha there is more than 4 at the Jane.
