Aspen Highlands for kids ?

Heading to Aspen on the 19th for 5 days  .... We have skied Snowmass and Ajax before......

Would like to check out Buttermilk and Highlands this time - maybe do a day at each .....

Is Highlands too difficult for the 12 year old - she has been skiing a few years (with lessons) and can deal with easy blues ....

Thanks

I think she'd be ok. Highlands has some nice blues off Cloud 9 lift and some of the best views anywhere.
It's similar to Ajax in that there are only a few easy ways to the bottom.
I also think you'll like Buttermilk. It's a really nice little hill and there's nobody out there.

Thanks.... I was thinking of this order:

Day 1 - Buttermilk - Nice and easy to gain her confidence

Day 2 - Snowmass - Add to confidence and get into some more challenging stuff

Day 3 - Ajax  - Time to man up a bit

Day 4 - Highlands --- and if too difficult for them head back to Snowmass

I will probably lets the kids off at 2pm each day and hit Ajax on my own for an hour or 2....

Well, I learned to ski there, back in the 60's. They had a bunny hill with a poma lift, and i think a little chairlift, as well. I don' think they are there anymore, but I remember plenty of blue, and even green runs on the lower mountain, so she should be fine. I remember our ski class would go to the top of the exhibition lift and down when were learning stem turns. smile.gif

That sounds good. Just keep an eye on the weather. You don't want to be at Snowmass if the wind is forecast to be > 25. The other hills are much more protected.
I leave on the 16th, back on the 26th or We'd take a run. I'll try to remember to post a conditions report. I sure you'll have great time!
