Mondo size discrepency vs shoe size

Currently shopping for a new pair of boots. Went to a local ski shop, had my feet measured and tried on a few different boots. All 26.5. I wear a size 10 men's shoe.

Now, according to all the charts that I have looked at online, a men's size 10 shoe, correlates with a 28 mondo. Not even close to what I tried on at the shop. So, what is correct? I want to make sure I get the proper size boot, not something that is going to be to small.

Thanks.

26./ 26.5 is generally an appropriate size for someone who wears a size 10 shoe,

It is almost impossible to accidentally buy boots that are too small if you have tried them on. Boots start out tight and get progressively looser, If you can tolerate having them on your feet for the first 5 minutes, then it's probably not too small. Might be the wrong fit, but too small? Almost no chance.

ignore the numbers, look at the shell fit

and yes,  10ish shoe in 26 shell is about right

sounds like the ski shop measured your foot for ski boots and came up with a 26. how are you determining that you are a size 10?

Just seems strange to me that all the research I have done online, says that being a size 10 shoe, corresponds with a 28 mondo. Interesting to note such a large discrepency I guess.....Thanks for the confirmation y'all, much appreciated.

size 26 and 10 are indeed the same.  Can't explain the conversion discrepancy but it is well known amongst boot fitters.

Of course, this also explains why so many skiers are wearing boots that are too large and have little if any control----which uses up lots of available athletic ability.  Also explains why we over tighten our boots so much.
