Problems with Ski Tracks iPhone app

No idea where else to put this, and I also can't find a forum specific to the app, AND the developers are ignoring my e-mail.

On my iPhone 5, the app won't record my tracks unless I don't lock the phone and leave the screen on. They claim it should work with the phone locked, or using the proximity sensor with the phone unlocked, but neither of them work. It stops tracking only a couple minutes later, which of course doesn't provide a nice up-and-down graph. Does anyone else have experience with this app?

Are you on iOS 7? I found the following at http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/ios-7-problems/

when I was searching to see if I should be updating my iPhone4 (not 4S) to iOS7. My main reason for upgrade would be improved security that requires iTunes password to wipe phone which makes phone useless if stolen. I don't think I'm upgrading seeing all the problems. My experience with Ski Tracks and iPhone4 has been very good. I now almost have three years on iPhone4 while previous non-Smart phones usually would not last two years of taking them mountain biking and skiing.

Problem: Apps keep logging you out

Many users have encountered issues with apps like Mailbox and Snapchat logging them out. App developers are working on fixes and seem to be in agreement that the way iOS 7’s background refresh works is the problem.

Workaround:

  • Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and turn it off for any apps where you’re finding problems.

Solution:

  • You may have to wait for an update from the app developer or Apple to find a permanent fix for this one.

That setting for Ski Tracks was turned off, so that's probably my problem. Thanks!
