What bindings for used racers

Hi all,

I just picked up a pair of 07/08 Rossignol radical RS SLs on eBay. My first pair of racers to start some masters races this year. They come without bindings and I'm wondering about new/used bindings. I'm just not sure of my choices with race plates etc...

Is there already a plate mounted on them?  Assuming so you are limited to a Rossi/look binding.  I'm not certain but IIRC at that vintage the plate only took the FKS binding.  It may have changed to take the newer PX series by then but i don't think so.  Some of the more Rossi centric racers here can correct me .The bad news is if it needs an FKS, you can find them but they tend to fetch premium prices so suddenly you find that what seemed a good deal gets more expensive.  For race skis, always helps to buy a pair complete with bindings for best value.

Thanks. Have not received them yet but I'll Check on the plates. Do you have a line on the bindings? I usually am relentless about researching my buys and it seems the first time I slip it may bite me.

sorry, no FKS available I'm afraid.

Post a pic of the plates when you get them and it should be apparent what binding it needs

07/08 was the first year of the i box plate, as far as i remember, as I swapped an old plate onto new skis as wanted to use FKS!

so you should be ok

in fact quick look on google comes up with this

Ok I knew it was somewhere around then they made the switch to the px series, wasn't sure if it was 08 or 09.
To the OP. If it is indeed the px plate remember that you need the PX race series. The standard px ( eg px12 ) has a different heel spacing and does not fit

Thanks guys. I got that Rossi "bible" from the seller and if I'm reading it correctly it calls for the MFX binding. Looks like the 120. Is this correct? Is there another nomenclature or model that will work (to search eBay etc)? Any for sale?

Hope all had a great Thanksgiving.

Ok seems like other names would be the axial and or pivot binding from look. Does it matter if it's Rossi branded?

The binding you need has a different heel screw spacing to the standard binding, the forward presure adjustment is done with a screw. The heel is shorter than the standard binding.

like these

or these for a lower din

One last thing. Here is the link to the skis I bought. If you look at the first picture, doesn't it look like the first eBay binding with the FKS pattern? I'm about to pull the trigger on the second eBay listing but wanted to double check. I'm hoping to ride these this weekend. Thanks

looks like they had the FKS binding on them....

Hi

Those are FKS bindings on the skis and looking at what I can make out of the plate its a RK plate which was the one of the FKS plates, (has two alloy beams down the outside edges in the centre) but they did so many its difficult to tell. The ibox plate has a single beam down the centre.

I would wait until the skis turn up until you buy, but you could always sell the fks if its wrong

Thank you guys very much...this would have been quite painful and regretable without your help.

As it turns out the seller learned this too after I asked and felt bad he "missrepresented" the skis. It was clearly an honest mistake and he was well intentioned but did offer to deal on the bindings.

I made him an offer and he accepted to the skis shipped today with the the orignal bindings.

Thanks to both again. ScotsSkier your a Jedi smile.gif
