Hotronics and Racing

Any experience or recommendation on mounting location for Hotronics?  I understand that the back of the boot is bad because of chair lift hitting.  I'm also concerned about gate hits.  My daughter is a HS racer and does a fare share of slalom.  On the boots it is looking like the outboard side towards the back would be best.

I'm considering getting the longer cord and run it into a pocket, but that won't work in a race suit.

Any success stories?

I use them in night league. I have the mounted on the back. I'm just careful getting on the lift and pull the cuff of my suit over them.

I do outboard side towards the back like you said.  I pull the powder cuff over them and have never lost one.

I have them on the back they only interfere with the chair when riding kiddie chairlifts and if you are aware of it that can be avoided.

Thanks all. I remember one of the lifts whacking the back of my calf a few times when I was helping younger students on and the lifetime was attentive so I'm leery of the back. My daughter is in HS and is usually racing with her friends so I expect her not not be paying attention.

Here's another question:

Any preference on the mounting bracket?

It looks like there is one for the boot shell and one for the boot strap. I like the idea of mounting to the shell as it seems more solid, but if it does get hit, it has no place to go. On the strap, it seems like it might survive a whack better because it appears like it would move a little but it doesn't seem as secure.

I appreciate everyone's input on this.

^This...

I have been clipping them on the back of the boot shell on cold days for over 10 years & even with running a fair amount of gates have never had a problem.  It IS a good idea to remain aware that you have them.

I mounted them on the back and didn't like that location. Now I just hang them on the on the outside power strap.
