Targhee is open!

Thread Starter

Targhee opened on Friday, Nov.22 with about a 45" base. We skied on Saturday, Nov. 23 and the skiing was very good and no liftlines!! There were some rocks, particularly on eastern and southern exposures but otherwise it was a great opener. Friday would have been better(powder) snow but according to the lifties and the webcams it was a major zoo!!  People w/backpacking stoves cooking breakfast, in the liftline, before the sun came up.

FOR US, SKI SEASON HAS BEGUN !!!!!

I skied Sunday.  Coverage was good.  No lift lines and everyone was skiing groomers even though the off-piste was pretty good.  I got wicked bad food poisoning and was out for the day Monday.  I don't recommend the Smoked Beef Cheese Steak.

It also came with waffle fries!

My trainer would have been proud of the intensity and number of reps I got with my isometric core contractions:eek.

I'm ready for opening day at JHMR tomorrow.  I even had my hands on my new Soul 7s earlier today.

lol ... that is definitely making lemonade from lemons, etc...

Enjoy opening day -- I was all ready to make a trip out next week, after I saw this forecast yesterday on Open Snow

I figured it was probably a glitch, and indeed nothing else backed it up. But that would definitely be worth a visit.... Maybe later. :-)

TPJ-  I think you might be able to create a new ab workout based on food poisoning. Seems like the key will be in the marketing but anyone who has had a good poisoning can attest to the benefits of violent and severe abdominal contractions......  Hope you are feeling better!

Seg- yeah, I am need of powder and soon. These last few weeks in NJ have taken their toll on me.

If that's accurate and it comes in cold to the valley floor, it might open the whole mountain for us.

I started seriously working out for ski season this October.  My core has been feeling great and my first turns at the Ghee were very strong.  The recovery time for my core was pretty short, it took longer to feel right nutritionally because all I ate for about 36 hours was a smoothie at about hour 18.  I'm definitely feeling better now.  I'm making crab omelette's then we are going skiing for Thanksgiving!

I've got a fresh tune on the E88s and my Souls are being mounted!

In the interest of fairness, I feel like I have to share a bit more about my "food poisoning".  I initially thought that my illness was a bout of food poisoning, most likely from something I ate at the Trap Bar at Targhee.  It turns out that I was at a party the night before I got sick and several of the guests at that party also got sick and had experiences very similar to mine.  My wife got a weaker version of what I had on Thanksgiving night, 4 days after I was sick, and then we found out that another of the guests from the Thanksgiving dinner we attended got it the next day.  It would seem that I caught a virus of some sort and that it's going around.

I want to publicly apologize to The Trap Bar.  I have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Targhee.  I now believe that they are innocent of what happened to me.  I have not been that sick in many years.  I hope no one reading this gets it!
