Best Skiing Near Annecy, France early January?

Two of my friends will be in Annecy the 1st week of January.  They were looking for an opinion on the most reliable snow within 1.5 hours.  One skis and the other snowboards, mostly off-piste, probably level 7 or 8.  They are adventurous but not La Grave-adventurous.

Thanks!

Les Deux Alpes goes way way up high, with 7546 feet of vertical available.   You'll find some snow up there for sure.

If Les 2 Alpes is an option (about 2 hr drive from Annecy), than Alp d'Huez may be even better (more varried terrain, nice difficult runs and lots of off-piste possibillities).

Other options might be Three Valleys (1.5 hrs to Les Menuires), Paradiski/Les Arcs (1.5 hrs to Bourg-st. Maurice), Flaine or Mégève (also 1.5 hrs).

Lots of great options.

For lift-served off-piste and cheapish lodging, check out Flaine.

Le grand Bornand would be pretty close to Annecy.  Probably less than an hour away.
