Your dog's favorite ski gear

So Pearl, one half of our Australian Shepherd twins, sees me on this site all the time, often reading about gear and test impressions. Written typically by humans, so far as we can tell.

You need to know that Pearl is a "modern" dog and harbors the opinion that those of the "canine persuasion" are profoundly unrepresented on these pages. I have to agree.

To remedy that I told her that I would post a photo of her with her favorite ski companion. Because she is a reserved lady of very few words we both decided that we would let the picture convey her affection for her beloved Dobermann. They have been together for about 4 years now and seem quite happy. And why not - he is tall, dark and handsome - hard and rather inflexible on the outside but with a soft sole.

There is a bit of a language barrier, though. He speaks only Italian, and she only, well, Aussi.

When I ask how she favors the Booster Strap, she just blushes and gives me this Mona Lisa smile. But when I tell her that there are some new Lange's in our lives she just - well, the picture says all.

I feel the same way about the straps.

Dogs are usually OK, it is the puppies you have to watch.  .... AND STINKIN CATS!

My Heelers have sworn off of ski equipment but they do help me with tuning and waxing.

Pearl offered to show me how to wax before skiing, but I told her that I really was not into that kind of grooming.

To each his own. I respect your decision.

My sons touring partner, Bear, the Ski Dog, has toured 100's of days and many thousands of vert. He's summited most of the volcanoes in the PNW.  I'm not sure what touring gear he likes but I know what he doesn't. The first time he had a doggie back pack put on him he ran into the forest and came back 10 minutes later without it. Smartest dog I've ever met.
