Travel between 3 valleys and camonix?

Thread Starter

Hi there

Just wondering if anybody knows the best and quickest way from The three valleys and Chaominix? I am going to France for some early season snow - Les Menuires for 4 nights mid-december and then have 2 nights booked at Chamonix before flying back out of Geneva? Has anybody taken public transport between the two resorts before and is there a shorter route than driving all the way back up to Geneva to get over to Chamonix?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Public transit looks like it might be a long trek.  I tried getting an itinerary by way of the the sncf website, and there will be at least 2 connections.

3 years back I looked into it. Chamonix to 3 valleys. Could not find any reasonable public transportation. I just YOLO'ed it and took a cab.

Chamonix to Courcheval 1800. I think I paid about $300.

Oh BTW - you don't have to go to Geneva to go from - chamonix to 3 valleys.

Taking the train to/from Geneva to 3 Vs seemed like a hassle when I looked it up but there is direct bus service.  It has been a while, but I think the bus service to/from Geneva to Cham was pretty hassle free.  If going the bus route, the trick will be to co-ordinate the timing so you don't have to spent too much time in Geneva unless you want to.

Moutiers - Albertville - Annecy - Chamonix, mix of buses and trains.

But the fastest non driving way is to Hitch hike  - done the journey in 3 hours that way ;)

Idris is the man in the know when it comes down to Cham.

For the use of public transportation you should have booked Quattre Vallees/Verbier instead of Trois Vallees.;)

Gondola down to Le Chable, bus to Martigny, train to Cham via Vallorcine. Did that the other way round once and it worked out well.

@Idris: remember the tour with Roo and Brownmonkey years ago?

Yes I do. Brownmonkey fell on his arse on the Arete of the Aiguille du Midi and tried to use me as a brake!
