So I need to cut some sidewall off my skis. My previous ski is fiberglass cap, and a file worked great for that. The ABS sidewall however is too soft to be filed away. Lacking one of those fancy sidewall planers, I opted for a chisel.
Holding it at around 10° (or 80° from the base) I just pushed it along the side. Since it cannot cut the metal edge that acts as a guide, but it'll also roll the chisel edge so chisel needs to be sharpened after each sidewall.
Barbaric as it may be, it seems to have worked nicely. Will find out this season if I have destroyed my brand new skis.
