Sore shins from ski boots

The last time I went skiing within the first two days I was getting really badly bruised and sore shins from the boots I'd hired. Luckily a family staying in the same hotel had suffered the same problem and had brought with them some gel pads called ski angels which they kindly gave me. The pads stuck directly to my shins (underneath the socks) so covered the sore bits and stopped the pain. We have a trip booked over this Christmas and searching the internet we found them for sale on a website called shin-eeze.com and also on ebay and Amazon. They cost around £20 a pair.

Yes, this is mostly a result of your rented boots not fitting you quite right.  Gel pads, huh?  That's a pretty clever solution.  Kudos!

I find that the first 2 or 3 times I ski every year I suffer bruised shins.  Pretty sure it's not from ill-fitting boots; I think it's because I don't do anything over the summer that puts pressure on my shins and they aren't "used to it".

But if these pads make your experience better, by all means buy them...nothing worse than being miserable, especially if the snow is great.

I was bruising the tendon sheath on the top of my foot playing hockey. Tried small thin gel pads over the tendon and they helped a fair bit. Its the little things in life.. :-)

They sell ski socks with built in padding on the shins. Might fit a little better than trying to stuff in extra pads.
