Armada TST or Volkl Gotama (2014)

Hi, my name is Ben, I'm 20 years old and I'm looking to buy a new pair of skis this for this season.

I am 6'1'' and I weigh around 75kg (165 pounds). I'm an expert skier and I ski 28-40 days a season.

Looking for a ski that will do everything for me, rip up the entire mountain.. I especially want it to work awesomely in powder and in the trees, but also not terribly on groomed and still to hold a bit of an edge on ice. Also, I don't want it to be completely foreign to a jump. (I know that's asking a lot)

So I think I've narrowed it down to two, the Gotamas and the TSTs. The TSTs have been recommended to me by a couple of people and I don't know much about the Gotamas but they just look pretty good and like they'd do what I need. Last year I skied on Volkl Mantras and loved them so yeah, I know I like some Volkl skis.

However, I am still open to other suggestions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TST looks like a better option for what you are saying... look at the Nordica Vagabond as well, seems to be close to what you need and as far as what people say it's pretty versatile!

Where do you ski? If you ski in a place that gets lots of snow you might wanna go a little wider and get something like Line Sick Day 110

Welcome to Epic! At your size and weight, and mission, the TST's are the call. Modern Goats are nice in soft snow, but can feel very slippery going flat during edge to edge in firm or icy conditions. No camber, y'see. Also on the beefier side. TST's are good everywhere, only ding is that they can get nervous in bad snow at speed under a heavier skier. But you're not. Search for qcanoe's thread for details. The Vagabond is apparently another good call, yep, and read up on the Salomon Q98; it's been getting a lot of positive feedback.

Thanks for your comments guys, seems as though TST is the way to go.

Just another one to throw out there, someone has just recommended to me the Rossignol Soul 7's as apparently they've won a load of awards this year. Any thoughts?

I have 192 TSTs and would comment they are fun in pow, turn very easily (trees) are ok on groomed snow (but not my favorite by a long shot) and are likely passable on icy stuff (never tried that).  All that said, I kind of like the specs on the Soul 7 better, as they don't appear to have the same crazy tip rocker the TSTs have.  Try them both if possible.
