    some sort of rivet

sew it on with dental floss

don't even bother with the tail strap, it's not necessary. That's what the glue is for.

skip the skins and use grip wax. These are just for slackcountry, right? If you want to go seriously uphill grab your light-weight AT stuff.

I replaced my "slack country" skis with longer ones (185cm Czars with 195cm Armada AK JJs) and would like to use my old skins.  What's the best way to mount a longer strap on the back of a pair of skins?

(There's a lot of tail rocker on the AK JJs, so I do not think having the skins a bit short will be much of a problem.  Besides, I don't tour much on these, I have much much lighter AT stuff for when I'm actually touring.)

Thanks in advance,

What type of tail do your skins have now?  An STS or G3 type voile strap would be my call.

Get something like these: http://www.mec.ca/product/5025-908/g3-skin-tail-connector-kit/

They are easy to attach, rivets go on with a hammer.

Has to be duct tape, unless you are a free heeler and then left over lentil stew (if sticky) is de rigueur.... :p

I have had skins with & without a tail strap.  For the most part I have never had an issue going without a strap as long as the glue is good.  The strap is just one more step in the process that may be unnecessary... YMMV

Woah I didn't get notifications for all these responses! Thanks everyone. I'll try removing the tail straps and see how it works with just glue. This is just for slackcountry after all. If that doesn't work I'll try the other suggestions.
