Helps to know the actual OS X version.  I'm having no issues on my new MB Retina with 10.8.3.  Starting using it about a month ago.

Finn, I'll definitely make sure there is a ticket on this, but.....

I have Mavericks on my computer, as does Phil, and I just got a new MacBookPro13 a week ago, also with Mavericks

Mavericks version 10.9.

Phil and I are having regular Safari crashes on all computers with the new Mavericks.  According to Zak at the Apple store, this is a known issue with Mavericks and they are working on a fix for it.

Marznc, you're not on the latest version at 10.8.3, and you're probably on Mt Lion if you got your computer a month ago.

On Mountain Lion 10.8.5 with the newest Safari 6.1 and have not been having problems.

Have had a Mac since 1985 but learned long ago to avoid going to a new Mac OS too soon. :)

Yeah.... That's it.

I'll still inform Huddler, but I think its the same issue that the Apple guy told me about.

Marznc, I've had good luck with the new OS updates with Apple.  Even if its not perfect from the start, they usually get a fix pretty quickly.

You could just download another browser.  I use Firefox now and have no troubles like I had from time to time with Safari.

I'll need some kind of reproduction steps @Finndog in order to ticket it. When does it crash, what do you define as a crash (ie does the page just freeze, does it make the entire browser shut down, etc.)

Actually, when I talked to Stins at Huddler about some of the safari issues since the Mavericks OS update, she suggested using Firefox until Apple creates a fix.

Google Chrome often works for things that Safari doesn't like.

As to the OS upgrade, my business depends on a number of apps, if one of them didn't work on Mavericks we'd be in trouble.  About to upgrade my home machine though.

That makes sense.

Phil and I usually upgrade one at a time so we have an idea how its working before all of our computers are upgraded.

This time around it was a bit different, not sure why.

SMJ. Avoid it for the moment! I uploaded mavericks to my MBA and it is quite simply c***! . Things that ran perfectly run slower and usually when I wake it up, I have to reboot the wireless as well.

So ScotSkier - what apps are slow for you?  Seems OK to me so far, but just using it for a few minutes.

I haven't noticed anything running slower.  In fact I think its running pretty fast.

The only issue I've had with it is the safari shut downs.  I can easily work around that until its fixed.

SMJ. No apps in particular, just feels like the brakes are on. Biggest pita is that it seems to lose wireless connection after sleep. Haven't actually seen many issues with safari funnily enough. My MBA was new in July and it worked better before the upgrade

Tc, you said you just got a new MBPS. Did you run it with the previous version as well or is it just that the new machine is quicker

biggrin.gif I hear you. I was very anti- apple until 18 months ago , then tried a Mac. Hated it for the first 3 months after using PC s for 25 years. However now you couldn't get me to change back. Still a few things are clunkier but for the most part way better.

Well so far so good, but I have found some bugs.  Not slower for me on anything.  No problems with wifi - I do use a Time Capsule as my wifi.

Niggling problems I've found.

I put aliases to a few common Word docs on my dock (including my ski log) they don't work now, they open a copy of the file with a number at the end.  I've Googled this and it's a known problem.

Mail:  I POP into my accounts.  To delete things from the server I click on a mailbox and select Get Account Info.  1:) In Mountain Lion I could type Command I.  no more.  2:) I cannot sort the messages as I could in the past.  Click on "Date" and the sorting remains by size.  To know what to delete I want the most recent emails at the top.  The interface clearly supports clicking on a column to sort by name, date, etc. it just doesn't work.

Safari is fine.

I was the same way.

I bought my first MacBookPro 15" in October of 2008.

I can't imagine going back to a PC.

These issues with Safari are really minor compared to the issues that I was encountering with my PC back in the day.

To the question you had for me above about Mavericks.

Phil and I have Mavericks on both of our older MacBooks. Phil hasn't experienced any issues with slow down at all.  I experienced some with my old computer but found out (during the bad migration) that my old computer had some fatal errors going on.  Once the Apple Genius' fixed my errors, its not slow at all.

We're going to use my old computer as a home station work horse and use our 13" MacBook Pro's for our day to day.

Tyler, oddly, it hasn't crashed in the past couple of days. If it does, I will try t grab the screen. but it would cause the browser to have to reload the page.

Qcanoe- This minor MAC issue (with only one type of software)  is a blip on the radar in comparison to all the issues I have with my PC.

Same here with the crashes.  But it only happens when trying to post something.  Doesn't happen when just browsing.  OS X 10.9

A known problem after the 12/11 update.  Have heard that Safari 6.1 and Java are part of the problem because of the new Draft feature.  There are more recent bug threads.

The Safari blowing up  whenever I am typing or editing a post thing is making me nuts. You guys really should treat it as sev one. Or maybe have a form so people set a request so they can be notified when the site is really usable again. I'm about ready to throw in the towel.
