You know you're a female athlete(skier) when... - Page 4

I figure if there's duct tape involved, then there are MacGuyver points!

And Skibilly, I'm also mostly an athlete in my dreams. ;)

This girl is the ultimate female athlete warrior MacGuyver in my mind. She made a duct tape Seattle Seahawks wallet for Russell Wilson while on the heart transplant list! The latest is she is doing well with a donor heart and will be returning to sports soon! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbiTGymNkfc&feature=player_detailpage

At the risk of getting all serious, I thought of this thread when I read this by Jen Hudak:

Good article. It's always bugged me when the women put up with this stuff.

Good article. It's always bugged me when the women put up with this stuff.

But let's look at this a little harder. From the article I linked:
Quote:
Last year around this time, the Bleacher Report posted an article on the 25 Hottest Female Winter Sports athletes (in which I was included) which prompted me to write me to write my own article on the 25 Hottest Male Winter Sport Athletes.

Pointing fingers at men is a bit of an easy reaction. In fact, pointing fingers at anyone may not be appropriate. There are a lot of arguments that sexuality is an important part of a complete person, and perhaps worthy of celebration. I'm just throwing ideas out there, but I'm sort of leaning towards a relaxed tolerance POV.

That is a good article, worth reading.

Well based on watching Lindsey's ad during the GS from Beaver Creek on NbcUniversal, you could answer the OP's question using "eyeliner" or "foundation".

Here's Danica Patrick. I've always liked her attitude.

Several years ago when she was about 24 I think, I heard an interview on Npr with her. The woman interviewing said, "I notice you use the word 'girl' a lot instead of 'woman'. Why?"

Patrick said she thought always using the word "Woman" was "old fashioned".

Some critics say that you are really good at marketing yourself but that you haven’t won a race.
I won a race in IndyCar, and that was nice. When the marketing is heavy, people are quick to say that they didn’t earn it or they’re not any good. I’m just myself, and if people are curious about it, I’m flattered — and that is great for my sponsors, and that’s part of why they come on board.

Your primary sponsor, GoDaddy, is frequently criticized for using pretty sexist marketing tactics.
I think in the past we’ve done things that have been polarizing, but GoDaddy is a growing company, and I think a lot of the things that we did created a ton of brand awareness. Now they have that awareness, they can tell people what they do.

So we won’t see another ad with you painting on a naked model?
I can’t promise anything, but I don’t see that in the near future, no.

How would you define the Danica brand?
When I joined up with IMG Worldwide back in 2009, we came up with a slogan: “A beautiful revolution.” It’s about being feminine but unique and different and kind of blazing a trail.

Janet Guthrie, the first woman to compete in the Daytona 500, has objected to some of your sexy photos. Do you think your difference is generational?
Times change. Women work now instead of staying home, women wear shorter skirts than they used to. You’re never going to please everyone, you’re never going to entertain everyone and be interesting and make people curious about you and also appease everyone — those worlds don’t go together. The best thing that you can do is just be yourself. That’s the easiest thing to do, and usually it’s entertaining for fans.

I figure women fought for the right to be "women" and that is an awfully big category.  Every athlete, male or female, has the right to make whatever decisions are best for them.  However, I do notice that women athletes are judged more harshly for risque ads. and that female athletes are objectified more than male athletes by various media outlets.  However, it's not my fight.  If the female athlete is bugged by the (excuse the pun) exposure, then it's up to her to battle it.  I'm getting off my soapbox now.  :hijack:

I had to borrow this one from the ski diva:

when the diamonds you're interested in have more to do with ski trails than jewelry

...you start to eye women's fat skis and talk about skiing offpiste/tour with it

...even without above said ski you tell the two younger girls with you at that moment, who look troubled because of a crowded  and icy section of the run you are skiing on

"Follow me, I know an easier way out of this" and proceed down the parallel soft snowed off-piste bumpy section

...even without above said skis you venture off-piste (sidecountry) for the first time in you life without thinking a sec and end the run with the widest smile nobody's has ever seen!

.On dec 2013, in bed with bronchitis, fever and flu, at 07:30 a.m. when nobody gets up to goskiing you complain and say "I wanted to ski today"

:-)

LF, Nobody is not a woman, but if you notice my OP of this thread ......

EpicSki can get a bad wrap for not having a vibe for women, but I've always felt at home here, as have many other women who post regularly, and commune amongst the Bears.  Heck we women of Epicski ARE Bears!!

So, I'm calling out to all my fellow female Bears and to all the male Bears who know what I'm talking about, to help add to this list that is circulating on Facebook from The Canadian DH Girls.

You know you're a female athlete when....

This is the second time you've implied that men should stay out of this thread.   This is EpicSki and Co-Ed participation is encouraged.

In the words of my nephew......Dude, why all the hate?

Is it you or Mrs' Nobody who's in bed with bronchitis?  Either way, I wish good health on your house.

I didn't get that vibe from LF at all. I thought she was just confused about whether Nobody was speaking for himself as a her or about another her. As I was. My reaction was, Nobody's a woman?

Hello ladies! Well, I am a man...or at least I think :-)
@Trish...the sick one in the family is mrs nobody (talking of whom...she was, in her time, an athlete in the speed skating -on wheels- world) . I hope she will be healthy enough to ski this week end, btw she hopes that too.
@everyone My screen name...Homer and Terence Hill "spaghetti western" movies...that's where it comes from.

Nobody, I hope you weren't offended when I asked if you were a woman.  I just had a moment's confused brain fart and thought it would be great if you were.

Well, somebody's a woman.
