Talk about lodging goes here.

Here's something new to consider.  Pre-pay before Jan. 1, 2014 for a room at Snowbird, but take your chances that one if available when you want to go.  Cannot make a reservation until 48 hours beforehand.  Definitely should read the fine print.

10695 Auto Mall Drive, Sandy, UT 84070.

I've stayed there before and they are rated the best hotel in Sandy by Trip Advisor (very clean, newly renovated, free hot breakfast, etc.).  They are offering us a group rate of $99 per room, per night, Monday, February 3 through Saturday, February 8.  Rates for the bracketing Saturday/Sunday are even less ($89 per night, per room).

The Utah Superpass can be purchased from the hotel for lift tickets at $67 per day (Snowbird, including the tram; Alta; Brighton; Solitude).  There is a free shuttle to the bus a mile away if anyone wants it, and the bus is free if we buy the Superpass at the hotel.

If anyone wants to take advantage of this rate, they should call the hotel (801-523-8484) and ask for the Epic Ski Group block rate.

I have a contact at the Goldminer's Daughter Lodge, who has offered a discount on lodging to our group for this trip:

"If anyone from your group would like to stay here I could offer them a 15% discount on the room rate.  A room with two double beds would be $329.00 + tax w/breakfast and dinner.  A single would be $216.00 + tax.  No book by date is necessary as we have good availability for those dates at this point (ie, as long as there are rooms available).  I believe the Mountain collective is 20% ($310.00 per night based on double occupancy with a 4 night minimum).  I'd be happy to give anybody the collective rate that has the pass and can stay for the four night minimum."

For anyone interested in this, they should contact Jonathan Scoville, who is the reservations manager at the GMD -- the number is (801) 742-2300 ‎ or he can be reached by e-mail at jonathan@skigmd.com.  Anyone wanting this rate should mention the epicski gathering or my name.

I have been staying at the Goldminer's Daughter Lodge for years and love it -- it is clean and comfortable, but not luxurious.  The meals are excellent, and the location (approx 200 feet from the base of the Collins lift) can't be beat.  There are definitely cheaper ways to arrange lodging in the SLC area, but when you you factor in the meals, the location, not needing to worry about transport, etc., it becomes a pretty good value.  the website for the lodge is www.skigmd.com.

Checking to see if anyone is looking for a roommate to share lodging and possible rental car costs, before I go ahead and make my own arrangements.  I'm planning on arriving the 1st and leaving on the 8th.

I decided to splurge.  Just made a reservation for Gold Miner's Daughter for 4 nights starting Sunday the 2nd.

Now I'm going to look for something closer to Ogden for Friday and Saturday (31 Jan & 1 Feb) and then Sandy or surroundings for the Thursday and Friday (flying out Saturday around noon).

I've got a car reserved and I'd be glad to give rides if that works out.  It's probably not too likely with the bouncing around, but if it does, great.

By the way, GMD has 2 single rooms left after I took mine.
