One boot for skiing downhill, cross country, and hiking?

Is there one boot out there that can be used for everything?

Hiking and cross country skiing if I'm going to be doing some backcountry camping or whatever.

Then regular downhill skiing in the resorts.

And they also need to be very very wide to accommodate my wide and flat feet. Or at least be able to be stretched out.

not really

a boot to camp in and XC ski in is not going to ski very well on the hiill

its like asking for a familly car, that is fun to drive, you can take off roading, and very economical to drive (and maybe electric too)

look at some of the touring boots to see how they are for your needs

I remember sitting on the lift at A-Basin with an old timer who said that you absolutely *could* get boots that did everything. He used to hike with his buddies for miles out in the back country and charge down steep runs. And then walk around town later. It was a very home grown, small brand though...

Absolutely you can get boots to do everything.  I agree with the old timer.  I race GS on my 115 powder skis.  They ski like shit and I am all over the place.  I've never finished better than last, but I do it.

I also use my mountain bike to ride criteriums.  Again I'm damn slow but I do it.

One day while at the track I saw a guy driving a Cadillac around Lime Rock.  Smoke from tires everywhere and brakes stank to high heaven but he did it.

What about the Fischer Ranger 12? It has a walk mode and is pretty stiff at 120.
