Aspen Mountain to open early for the weekend of Nov. 16-17
Aspen Mountain will open for the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16 and 17, 12 days earlier than the scheduled opening on Thanksgiving Day, according to a press release sent out by the Aspen Skiing Co. on Sunday. Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will be open daily for the season on Saturday, Nov. 23, five days before the scheduled opening.

Early snow and cold temperatures are allowing crews to work around the clock to get the mountains ready for the early treat. Aspen Mountain will open with top-to-bottom skiing down both the Spar Gulch and Copper Bowl sides of the mountain. Skiers and riders will enjoy more than 200 acres of terrain on an 18 inch base. The Silver Queen Gondola and Ajax Express Chair will be open, as will the Sundeck and Ajax Tavern, according to SkiCo. Specific information on runs and additional lifts will be announced later this week.

All season passes will be valid as they would be in the regular season.

Thanksgiving weekend will be packed with events including the Thanksjibbing rail jam at Snowmass Base Village on Friday, Nov. 29 and the first Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert of the season featuring Elephant Revival on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the base of Aspen Mountain.
