After 38 years of skiing I decided to instruct this season for the first time.
My schedule is pretty flexible now since I am doing freelance design work for a firm in Newport Beach. I was laid off in August from my job of 24 years -- worked for a big a/e firm which designed hospitals, but with the uncertain economy hospital admins cut spending.
At least now I work from home barefoot, and wearing sweatpants and a hoody. Will have to be careful I dont get fat since I have easy access now to Oreos and Halloween candy.
Kudos to you on becoming an instructor! I should give it a go myself before I get really old My son is 14, but after one half day lesson 2 years ago (at crescent)
He has no problem following dad down long black bump runs! I have never been on a snowboard, but either he is just a natural, or learning on a board is much easier. Either way, he really wants to come over to the light and learn to ski I will be getting in touch as soon as we get some snow.
As a longtime IT guy, I have spent a fair amount of time working from home, it's ok if you have a dedicated office area and few distractions. best of luck to you.
