I'm hoping you can help me plan my short trip to Colorado arriving in Denver 3 pm sat Feb 8th to tues Feb 11th departing 7pm. My buddy and I are advanced skiers and like "hike to" inbounds terrain and no frills type places as we are on a budget. We dont care about nightlife so much. This is our third annual trip. We had a blast at Taos and Alta the previous two seasons but both of us have never skied CO so we figured we'd give it a try this time. We don't mind driving but not as far as CB WC or Telluride.
If the weather is clear I was thinking of driving to Frisco from the airport and skiing Copper sunday then driving to Glenwood Springs to sleep and skiing Aspen Highlands Monday (hoping to hike Highland bowl if open) then drive back to Frisco to sleep and skiing ABasin Tues so we are closer to the airport to catch our 7pm flight back home. Is this way too much driving???
If the weather is stormy I have no idea what we should do? Bus vs Rental? Which Mtns are better in stormy conditions. I wouldn't mind finding one place and settling if the weather makes for difficult travel.
Thoughts? Thanks very much.
