October through the beginning of November is ski swap season in the Mid-Atlantic area and I along with some other Mid-Atlantic Bears have been doing there part to give money to various Ski Patrols by hunting down some new to us ski equipment for the upcoming ski season. I'm sure it has or currently is ski swap seasons in the other regions of the country as well. Since there isn't much skiing to be had yet, lets talk about the bargains we've found to add to our ski equipment. I'll start us off with my two new ski quiver additions:
Cantunamuch (PJ) helped me find my first addition. One of the things I was looking for was a good out West ski, since I will be at the Utah EpicSki gathering. PJ steered me towards a pair of Salomon Rocker2 115 for a Utah powder ski. As a plus, the ski comes with a touring binding as well. We found this ski at the DC Ski Center Swap, which is big madhouse of an event, where most of the good deals are picked up within the first 15 to 30 minutes of swap.
My second acquisition was at Alpine Ski Swap this weekend. The Alpine Ski Swap was a complete 180 from the DC Ski Center event. Less people, less equipment, and a much more relaxed pace. The sales people who work at Alpine Ski were also circulating around during the swap and providing advice on equipment to people looking at equipment during the swap. With the out West powder ski taken care of, I wanted a good starting to do bumps, trees, and East Coast powder ski. I ended up with another pair of Salomons, this time a pair of Salomon Lord skis.
