Park City Quick Start program is dead

Just confirmed with Park City Chamber of Commerce that they killed this program, at least for the 2013/14 season.  Very unfortunate, since in the past I could fly from LAX in the morning and catch a couple of hours of evening / night skiing at PCMR.  Was a nice way to warm up for the next few days of skiing without feeling totally screwed by having to pay $80 for 2-3 hours of night skiing on less than 10% of the mountain that is open and has lights.

I guess PCMR and the area businesses are all doing so great that they feel they can raise prices and kill the program they promoted for years in the media.  I dont know about others, but this will certainly give me a "nudge" to spend my vacation budget in Colorado next year.

That's too bad they ended the Park City Quick Start program. They had blacked out prime time the last year or two so it was only good early season, January and late season. I used it once when it started dumping and closed the airport shortly after we landed and we started our free powder day at PCMR about noon.

The better news is that Alta/Snowbird now has a half-price ticket deal that is valid Mon-Fri within 24 hrs. of your arrival in Salt Lake City. You do have to pre-register and since it is an AltaBird ticket, it cost $52.50 which is not that much less than some discount tickets from Canyon Sports. See http://www.alta.com/boardingpass/ for details.

Another option is the Alta late afternoon all mountain pass, $37 for 2:30-4:30 PM pass (or $32 if you already have a reloadable Alta card). I did that a couple of years ago and enjoyed it (happened to be a powder day, which helped).

That stinks.  We will probably head over to Little Cottonwood for our vacations in the future.  Brighton, the Bird and Alta are cheaper and better.  We actually started hitting DV because of the Quick Start program.  Bring it back and we will come back.
