Just thought I'd inject a little early-season enthusiasm.
Yesterday, October 30, we went up and skinned around a little from the top of Teton Pass. We'd had about 15" of new snow in the last 36 hours. All we did was skin out to Mt. Elly and then ski back down more or less along the skin track.
Hardly anyone else was up there. We had about 3" of brand-new snow on top of a nicely-packed skin track. Temps in the high 20's, moderate wind and light snow falling. The snow on the track was smooth, soft, and silky. Altogether, it was a great way to usher out October.
Best of all, it's snowing right now as we're heading into town to watch all the little trick-or-treat urchins from the window of the Silver Dollar Bar at the Wort Hotel.
