New Snow in Jackson Hole - October 30, 2013

Just thought I'd inject a little early-season enthusiasm.

Yesterday, October 30, we went up and skinned around a little from the top of Teton Pass.  We'd had about 15" of new snow in the last 36 hours.  All we did was skin out to Mt. Elly and then ski back down more or less along the skin track.

Hardly anyone else was up there.  We had about 3" of brand-new snow on top of a nicely-packed skin track. Temps in the high 20's, moderate wind and light snow falling. The snow on the track was smooth, soft, and silky.  Altogether, it was a great way to usher out October.

Best of all, it's snowing right now as we're heading into town to watch all the little trick-or-treat urchins from the window of the Silver Dollar Bar at the Wort Hotel.

Halloween?  That tree looks spooky enough.

Thanks for the "spooky" views of JH Bob!

Actually, I was just talking to Betsy yesterday about our enjoyment of JH and spending some time skiing with you during the last gathering.  We opened our "JH Tapped" app to see what was going on via the many cam's.  Your pics here did the "trick" as a great "treat"

Enjoy it all this season!

Best,

Don

End of a Jackson Hole icon.  This is the blank space where the old "Seven Levels" building is being torn down.  This building housed the infamous Village Cafe, where the early TGR boys (and a couple of girls) invented beer gelande:

Wow - what's replacing the old building?

Thank you Bob

Your updates are perfect for building the anticipation. Although we are heading into summer here,we are heading to Jackson on New Year's Day, so it is great to be able to watch the build up to the season.

I know someone else that skinned and skied along the ridgeline in the Tetons this morning.  He said it certainly did NOT suck.
