Calgary New and Used Ski Sale (Tips for first my swap?)

Hey, I'm a new skier who's going to be checking out the Calgary Ski Swap tomorrow. What should I expect? Are there sales type people who will help you? Will $400 get a decent set of skis? Any strategies for getting a good deal?

Thanks!

on swaps be the first to arrive for the best products/deals, but be sure to know what you are looking for, you won't get much expert help!

$400 would me more than enough in the us, not sure about canada, but you should get great skis for that price!

I would offer to come help you but I don't think that will work today unless it is after 8 (they close at 9).

I think you might be able to get good skis for $400, probably even a ski with a system binding for that, brand new. Used, definitely you should be fine especially for intermediate type equipment. I personally wouldn't pay more than $250 for used skis in that range. If you are, you might as well wait for something to pop up on Kijiji and take your time evaluating it.

There tend to be lots of students in Calgary who need to sell gear cheap before the semester starts so I always look in July/August and around and shortly after Christmas.

Cool. I'd take you up on your offer, but I need to be out of there at around 7:00. I'm looking forward to the swap though, and if I'm lucky, I'm hoping to find some Bonafides. Chances are pretty slim though, I don't know who would want to consign them!
