The Asics Marathon banner add is kind of breaking the site...

So, I've put up with this for a few weeks, but this add is really annoying.

Its a rollover add that opens up if the mouse pointer is even momentarily drawn across it, and then it opens up and blocks the private messages, subcriptions, etc. area of the page.

What keeps happening is I will roll over the odd moving the cursor from the address bar of the browser down to click on subscriptions, but can't click because I rolled over the ad and it is now blocking the subscriptions link.

Then, I go back up to click close on the add, but many times I manage to roll over the damned thing AGAIN.

If we could move on to a new banner ad I would be very grateful.

Why don't you just turn off ads on your profile?

Sorry it's something we don't have control over. I have ads off, but I know other sites on this platform have had users complain about the same type of ads. Perhaps they will change in the future.

I didn't know that was an option.  Solves my problem, but I'm sure this is bugging other people that don't have that option.

Edited just to say yes, I agree it's annoying.

haven't seen it but adblocker probably had something to do with that.

Tyler,

For this particular ad, a re-design that moved the hot link that initiates the expansion of the ad to the left would help.  Right now it's essentially right under the Close box (top right corner, very small).  So after clicking on close, it's very easy to hit the expansion spot when scrolling down to do something else.

I'm sure that's specifically why they placed it there. What we consider to be annoying and intrusive, they consider to be marketing exposure. Under the premise of any publicity is good publicity, it is probably the only ad that anyone can name on the forum, and certainly the only one with it's own thread.

Shouldn't this beef be in the 1st-World Problems thread?
