That has been the point of my (occasionally constructive) threads from the start. Groomer is a bad word and it means very little across a large western mountain. The idea is to get some test driving without being forced into the Indy 500. I would hate, hate, hate to take a trip and be basically running up and down the frontside of an expert mountain. Who cares how it is groomed - you don't get to see or experience the mountain.
If you don't want WP, do Vail. Not the frontside. Find somebody who can plan a day for you like I did for WP. See the mountain, and then make next step plans. You can afford Vail on your budget, I laid it out last night. Big is good, see if you can blow your mind without putting yourself in a 'need to be a local' situation of not knowing how to give yourself a full tour.
Skills goals are very necessary, mountain goals are better.
