Does it make any sense for an intermediate New England groomer skier to venture somewhere out west ?! ....................
So I'm eager and excited to see what all the fuss is about out west.
But I currently don't have anybody to go with.
And if I go with a ski club I'll be limited to where they go.
And honestly, I may not yet have the skills to really make a trip out west fully worthwhile.
Or would I still find it worthwhile to go out west being primarily an intermediate groomer skier?
I plan on taking lessons...wonder if I could advance enough fast enough to really get a lot out of a western resort, say in February or March?
Then there is the question of where to go?
Cost is an issue - would be nice to stay at some kind of ski hostel somewhere to keep place-to-sleep-and-shower costs down.
I plan on really looking over trail maps to the top 10 resorts for terrain variety and then narrowing it down to a few.
Guess there is no place in the US like Park City, where I have a bazillion choices withing 10 miles, huh?
I'm curious about a few places - Alta, Whistler, Vail, Deer Valley, Crystal, Bachelor....
Anyhow, what do you think?
